TIME TRIALS

Are you ready for a challenge?

Introducing the RIDGE TRAIL TIME TRIALS at Mt. Pisgah State & County Parks
Participants will compete to ascend Mt. Pisgah from the pool-side pavilion to the Chief Wetona statue atop Mt. Pisgah and back down.
HOW THIS WORKS:
Over the course of the summer (June 1st thru August 31st), anyone who wants to test their resolve on Mt. Pisgah can time themselves running from the pool-side pavilion, up the Ridge Trail, to the Chief Wetona statue, turn around and descend back down to the pool-side pavilion.  Report your time to the Facebook page here (Facebook Group).  You may run this as many times as you like to try to improve your time.  These times will be used to seed you against other runners.

On Labor Day morning (Monday, September 7th)  anyone who would like to participate can then run the trials.  Starting with the slowest seeded runner, we will send 1 runner out every 2 minutes to run to the Chief and back.  This will continue until the last and fastest seeded runner is out.  Once every one returns we'll have a post race party!
RULES:
-
The start line is the south-west post of the pool-side pavilion,  Your time starts when your hand leaves the post.

- You can run, hike, walk anyway you want up the Ridge Trail, but you must touch the Chief Wetona statue at the top of the Mountain.

- The finish, and when your time stops, is when you reach the poolside pavilion and touch the starting post.

DIRECTIONS:
-From the poolside pavilion, run down the grassy hill to the road at the start of the guardrail. Follow the road for 200 yards and safely cross over to the Mill Stream Trail Loop.

-Take the left trail of the Mill Stream Loop (the steeper part)
If you follow this trail it turns into the Ridge Trail in about 1/3 of mile.

-Take the Ridge Trail all the way to the gate at the top where it meets the paved county park road.

-Take a right (going up the hill) on the county park road and follow it to the very top where you should see a pavilion on your left, the cell tower on your right, and the Chief across the parking space.

-High Five, Fist Bump, Slap the Chief on the bum (your choice) and come back down the way you came.
It's approximately 1,400 feet of elevation from the bottom to the top and 3.4 miles (up and back down would be just under 6.8 miles).

ENTRANCE FEE?
-  Zero, nil, nada... this is purely for the fun (?) of it.  A way to run socially distant, but as part of a group and a chance to hopefully get together at the end of summer.

- Really?  Yup, well, maybe bring a dish to pass for the post race party and we'll call it good.
